The Mitchell Hochberg Memorial Public Education Event on Wednesday evening is the kick-off event for the Conference which is held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, March 1-3; the Conference is composed of several formats, including courses, open sessions, limited registration workshops and special presentations on a variety of topics.
Special Plenary Presentations
Wednesday evening, February 28, 6:30-7:45 pm: Mitchell Hochberg Memorial Public Education Event:David Allen, MD, MPH will discuss, "Group Process as an Intervention for Community Resocialization."
Thursday morning, March 1, 8:30-9:45 am: Conference Opening Plenary Address:Pat Ogden, PhD will deliver the Conference Opening Address, "The Role of the Body in Group Psychotherapy: A Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Approach."
Friday morning, March 2, 8:30-9:45 am: Anne and Ramon Alonso Presidential Plenary Address: Barry Helfmann, PsyD, ABPP, CGP, DFAGPA will deliver his address, "Why AGPA?"
Saturday morning, March 3, 9:00-11:30am: Louis R. Ormont Lecture: Richard Billow, PhD, ABPP, CGP will speak about, "Witnessing: The Third Axis of Group."
Courses: These courses are designed to cover a variety of topics in-depth. Two-day courses meet in four sections on two consecutive days and one-day courses meet in two sections for one full day. Participants must attend all sessions in order to receive continuing education credits. Continuing Education: One-day: 5 credits/.5 units
Open Sessions (300 series): These meetings will be presented in a variety of formats, including panels, papers and demonstrations. Audience participation and exchange with thepresenters is encouraged. Continuing Education: 2.5 credits/.25 units
Early Morning Open Sessions (200 Series): These events will be presented on specialized areas of interest for the group therapist. Continuing Education: 1 credit/.1 unit
Workshops (1-100 Series): All-day and half-day meetings provide a context in which participants exchange information among themselves and with the chairperson. These meetings are designed for varying levels of experience including masterworkshops for senior clinicians. Continuing Education: All-day: 5 credits/.5 units; Half-day: 2.5 credits/.25 units 90-Minute Events: These sessions are presented as open sessions and workshops and are scheduled on Friday afternoon of the Conference. Continuing Education: 1.5 credits/.15 units
