Explore how two seemingly different models can be blended to create a dynamic and engaging skills training group that addresses resistances and facilitates emotional growth. We will explore relevant concepts from both theoretic approaches as they pertain to group facilitation separate from one another and then as a combined technique.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will explore theoretical overviews of both Dialectic Behavioral Therapy and Modern Analytic Group Therapy.
  2. Attendees will participate in or observe demonstration groups of each model separately.
  3. We will compare and contrast these two models both in technique and context of each theory.
  4. Learners will participate in or observe a demonstration group which combines aspects of each theory into an integrated treatment approach.
  5. Considerations will be made for the use of this integrated model in Individual therapy.
